RIFF’s ‘Industry Days’ will take place from 5th to 9th of October 2016. It is a gathering for filmmakers to uncover new ideas, make connections and discover opportunities for new projects, connections and friendship.
We have introductions on local film-making talent, seminars geared towards those who are thirsty for knowledge and panel discussions that focus on the most vital issues in the present. The Icelandic film industry is a diverse community of individuals rich in experience and knowledge relating to development, production and distribution.
This year we will especially celebrate Icelandic films, that won over 100 international awards in 2015 for films such as Rams that won Un Certain Regard Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, Sparrows that won the the Golden Shell for Best Film at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and Best Film in the 1-2 Competition of the Warsaw International Film Festival, andVirgin Mountain that won the Nordic Council Film Prize and three awards at the Tribeca Film Festival.
The Program includes: Masterclasses with hour honoray guests Alejandro Jodorowsky and Darren Aronofsky. Panel discussions about Icelandic music, films and the environment. New Icelandic films: works in process. In a collaboration with the Icelandic Film Fund we are proud to invite our Industry Days guests to this introduction of Icelandic film projects in-the-making. These projects are a collection of short films, documentaries and feature films and have all been fully or partly funded but are in different stages of production. A visit to a production company. Industry days parties and award ceremony and last but not least…
…Our famous locations trip. Filming in Iceland has been increasingly popular among international film makers with all the extreme locations Iceland has to offer.
