Short Films

Reykjavík International Film Festival shows both Icelandic as well as foreign short films. 

The Icelandic short films compete for the award The Best Icelandic Short Film. The winning film receives an award from the Thor Vilhjálmsson Memorial Fund. Thor Vilhjálmsson was an Icelandic writer who served in numerous capacities for writers and artists. He received various awards for his work and his books have been translated into several languages. In 1988, Thor Vilhjálmsson won the Nordic Council Literature Prize for his book Justice Undone.

Last year the short films Docyoumentory by Jón Ásgeir Karlsson and Rainbow Party by Eva Sigurðardóttir won the award.
